It’s December!!! I love the month of December. It is the last month of the year and we all start to prepare for the upcoming Holidays. For many, this can look vastly different. While many people get excited about the shopping and festivities others do not.
I myself, I’m an introvert. Sometimes the number of people and sounds can quickly become overwhelming. You will not find me anywhere near a mall starting Black Friday. My sister has in the past has joked that she is not going to take me places anymore because I retreat into my shell. It really is true, I retreat into my safe place when I get overwhelmed by the commercialism and the people.
My safe place exists within the gaming communities I am in. While Christmas is amazing I most look forward to the end of December. New Years has always been my favorite Holiday. It symbolizes the beginning of something new. While it may be just a New Year and many of us break our New Years Resolutions just days into the New Year it is the symbolism behind it that I really get into.
I want to challenge my Gamer Girl Community as the end of the year approaches. Before the New Year begins do not pick Resolutions. Resolutions are easy to break. Last Year I started something new and I picked a word. A word that I could hold onto in 2018 and look to let that word really define my year.
In some ways it did. Last year I picked the word Joy. I wanted to find the things that brought Joy into my life. To me, Joy goes beyond Happy. Joy is something that we can have even in the worst of times.
In 2018 I found Joy in:
- My Family
- My Writing
- My Gaming Communities
- My Art
- My Friends
And in so many other places. These are the things I hold onto and where I find my Joy even when there is a dark cloud over my head. I have not decided on my word for 2019 yet. However, I know that when I do it will be one that helps me to make the changes I need or even one that will give me the courage to push through in the tough moments.
