Women's Day

Happy Women’s Day!

It’s March 8th and officially Women’s Day. I could not let this day pass without taking a moment to reflect on that. What I write here and what I post is geared towards women. Women who game and women who are a part of the gaming community.

However, as women we are so much more. We fulfill many roles in our daily life from student, teacher, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, wife, girlfriend, gamer, housekeeper, and so many more. As people we are defined by so many labels and at times labels can be difficult but labels are not always bad.

Some of the labels I wear I am quite proud of and while they help define who I am, I am not limited to the ones I wear. Women’s Day began being celebrated in 1908 that’s over 100 years of history and in 1977, March 8th was declared to officially be Women’s Day. It is a day where we as women can celebrate the strides that have been made towards equality and continue to urge progression for more. It is a day to celebrate the label that defines us as women.

As I was looking for things about Women’s Day, I found a quote that I really liked.

Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already Strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.

G.D. Anderson

So many times I use this place as a platform to share my thoughts with all of you. I started it as a community for female gamers tired of the BS, but in it’s own way it is a battle against gender inequality issues. I never would have defined myself as a Feminist but when I read that quote I do not mind that definition.

Ladies each and everyone of you possesses strength and talent. Each and everyone of you deserves to define yourselves how you want to (just don’t go crazy and define yourself as a murderer or something nutty like that). Our labels help define us but do not limit us. I am a woman and proud of it and my possibilities are endless. The same goes for each of you. Happy Women’s Day ladies, embrace your possibilities.
